Switching YEL insurance from one pension insurance company to another is possible if the policy has been active with the current pension company for at least one year (12 months). The insurance can be transferred four times a year. The transfer dates are: 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October.
A current YEL insurance policy must be terminated with the current pension company at least three months before the transfer date. The termination happens by applying for YEL insurance with Varma. You can apply to transfer your insurance to us at any time.
For example, if you have taken out YEL insurance with another pension company starting on 1 January 2023, you can become a YEL customer of Varma at the earliest on 1 January 2024. To transfer your insurance to Varma, fill in an application electronically or by phone by 30 September 2023 at the latest.
We will take care of the rest. We will handle the termination of your insurance with your current pension company, and we will inform you when your YEL insurance takes effect at Varma. Remember that transferring pension insurance is not bound to banking or non-life insurance partners.
