Why is it a good idea to apply for a payment extension?
Applying for a payment extension well before the invoice is due helps you avoid a payment reminder, for which we charge a EUR 40 fee. When you request more time to pay, you will pay interest on the extended payment period at the rate applied to commercial contracts.
How do I apply for a payment extension on my YEL invoice?
You can apply for a payment extension for your self-employed person's pension insurance contributions in Varma Online Service by following the instructions below:
- Log in to Varma Online Service.
- Go to YEL insurance > Invoices > Apply for an extended term of payment for your invoices.
- Select the invoices for which you want to request a payment extension, the first payment date and the number of instalments. The first payment date must be within 30 days.
- Check the information and send the request for a payment extension.

- Check the summary and send the information.
